Art has always been a passion and hobby for me. I am an artist, nature and animal lover, and I love that I can combine these passions into art.
I self taught myself in my early years, most of my early drawings were animal portraits and landscapes in pen and ink or pencil, as gifts for family and friends. I took Adult Ed lessons, starting with classes in drawing and painting in acrylics, and joined a local art club. After several years of acrylic painting classes, I began taking lessons with a pastel artist who has been working with pastels for over 40 years. I painted still lifes, landscapes and some portrait work. I next began taking lessons with local pastel artist, Christine DiMauro, a member of the Pastel Society of America, who has won several awards for her pastel work. I continue to take lessons and workshops to learn and evolve as a pastel artist. I have been featured in the January 2020 and 2022 Issue of the Leland Magazine, the October 2019 issue of Forest View Magazine, and the 2022 Wilmington Business to Business Journal. My work has been featured in several shows and galleries, including at the Bellamy Mansion and Burgwin Wright house art galleries in Wilmington, NC, and the Leland Cultural Art Center in Leland, NC.
I paint landscapes, people and animals, as well commissioned pet portraits and other works. “I love painting animals and landscapes, and capturing the spirit and colors that nature gave that we don’t always see.” I am a member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, the Piedmont Pastel Society, Art League of Leland, and the Coastal Pastel Society of North Carolina, and reside in Leland, North Carolina.
